September 2021: While we were certainly ready to have the tournament take place again this year at the shellfish festival, we must put the safety of others first. Here is hoping that we can all get together and celebrate women in our beloved industry next year. Until then please stay safe, wear a mask and please get your vaccine.

The Marlene Dowdle Memorial Tournament takes place annually at the PEI International Shellfish Festival and is a female only tournament for shuckers. The prize for the fastest woman shucker is $1,000 and a commemorative trophy.

This tournament was started to honor the memory of Marlene Dowdle and also raise awareness and support for women in the fishing industry. Marlene loved the PEI Shellfish Festival and we, her family could think of no better way to honor her memory.
